This post will be an accumulation of all my most used products for the months of July and August. These beauty essentials keep my makeup in place in the summer heat.
With the combination of humidy and my naturally oily skin type, finding products that hold up in summer can be difficult.
These are my highly recommended Highlights:
First priority: sunscreen. I use all Face Reality skincare products designed for acne prone skin. This is my daily morning moisturizer / SPF in one and I don’t have to worry about breakouts. This doesn’t leave a white mask look on my face. I love the way it hydrates and protects all in one.
My favorite foundation in general – but especially for summer. The Clinique Acne Solutions foundation prevents breakouts and treats my skin even in the hot weather. It gives great coverage and there’s a great variety of shades.
Most days I usually do the baking method for setting my foundation. I let this NYC loose powder sit and absorb on top of my foundation and I really notice a difference with longevity of my makeup throughout the day. This particular powder is super affordable and doesn’t look cakey on me.
Definitely one of the top products of this post. Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray is a life saver in this heat. My makeup doesn’t budge when I use this incredible product. If I do makeup on clients this setting spray is the only go-to I trust for the last step! I always notice a huge difference in longevity of the products on my face.
Another product that is great for keeping Makeup in place, but this time for your lips! Motives Cosmetics “lip lock” really keeps any lip product stay put all day. It has a slight tint of concealed color that is perfect for priming the lips and filling in lines to prepare your pout for the color you choose.
Speaking of lips, I take summer to be the time I can really experiment with bold color! I’ve been loving Motives matte liquid lipstick in the shade “Try Me.” the purple color isn’t too crazy but it’s definitely a few steps above your average pink / neutral.
The Balm’s “Hot Mama” blush is a definite close match to Nar’s “orgasm” with its pinky tones and gold shimmer mixed in. The shimmer specks in the blush aren’t too glittery which I love because it gives more of a natural glow to the cheeks. Bonus: Nars recently announced they sell to China which takes them off the cruelty-free brand list. The Balm however is still into beauty without bunnies!
I’ve been absolutely obsessed with this amazingly affordable Highlight! Elf’s baked highlighter in “moonlight pearls” looks natural on my skin but still gives the pop of sheen I desire in my makeup looks. This is definitely a summer must-have and it is super assessable at many drugstores.
Essence Waterproof volume mascara has totally changed the game for me. The oily skin issue strikes again and my mascara usually runs and smudges by the end of the day. I’m so happy I found this particular waterpooof mascara because I love the wand and it’s literally less than $5 at ulta!
